Waterperry Opera Festival
Programme design for Waterperry Opera Festival, an inclusive and welcoming celebration of opera, theatre and classical music.
Project overview
– Print Design
Waterperry Opera Festival aims to bring opera to life for everyone. Since 2017, they’ve welcomed audiences of all ages to enjoy high-quality, accessible, and socially relevant operatic and classical performances in the stunning setting of Waterperry House and Gardens, Oxfordshire.
We were asked to create a new programme design which would really capture the vibrant energy of this young and exciting Festival and help attract a wider audience.
Working with Waterperry’s existing logo we created a design which is sympathetic to the classical roots of opera, while also being attractive to new and diverse audiences.
Waterperry Opera Festival takes place in Waterperry House and Gardens, which is home to 20 acres of beautifully landscaped ornamental gardens. This inspired us to use floral, organic shapes and outlines within the designs, adding interest and excitement to the programme’s pages.
We chose a classic serif typeface for headings, which adds elegance and formality along with a relatively organic structure. A contemporary geometric sans-serif is used for body copy, ensuring the text is legible even when reduced to smaller sizes.
